Unilever ‘s luxury makeup brand Hourglass revealed that it will launch a disruptive sustainable innovation plan in July this year.
Hourglass has been planning for this for several years and will replace ordinary packaging with tin, aluminum and post-consumer recycled plastics in its new products in the fall of 2021 to reduce the consumption of disposable plastics. Specifically, the core products will use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council, Forest Stewardship Council) certified cartons; two limited-edition holiday makeup trays made of tin materials will be launched. In addition, the brand will also expand its “equilibrium” series, in which skin care products will be the focus of future development.
Hourglass founder and CEO Carisa Janes revealed: “This may be the most disruptive and innovative product we have ever launched.”
Carisa Janes said that these new packaging are customizable and will provide consumers with a “personalized way of interacting with the product.”
She also said: “I am also proud of its appearance. I want to create a sustainable and beautifully designed thing that can be used repeatedly as a luxurious and unique souvenir, rather than a packaging that will be thrown away. . This helps reduce waste and will become more cost-effective over time.”
Hourglass was established in 2004 as a cruelty-free luxury beauty brand. It recently launched a new skin care category, including cleansers, serums, sunscreens and eye creams, all of which contain the brand’s proprietary cell balance complex ( Cell Balancing Complex).
Carisa Janes said: “We will continue to focus on skin care innovation based on proprietary ingredients to help create healthy and balanced skin.” “As we continue to promote innovation in the vegan and cruelty-free field, eye makeup and eye care will also It will be an exciting category.”
When the Hourglass brand was first launched in 2004, about 80% of the products were vegan. Since it was acquired by Unilever in 2017, it is working hard to transition to no longer using any animal ingredients.
